Community   Outdoor Warning    System

Once a Severe Thunderstorm or Tornado warning has been issued, or a chemical release or spill has happened, a steady tone will sound for 3 minutes followed by a 5 minute pause.
This pattern will be repeated 3 times, and there will not be an all clear signal.
If you hear these alert signals you should take shelter in the interior of a strong structure away from windows. If possible you should tune to a local radio or television station for important information.

 Sirens Sound During...

  • Severe Weather Warnings (Severe Thunderstorm and/or Tornado)
  • Hazardous Material Release or Spill
  • Other Community Emergencies
 
Weekly Testing:
The outdoor warning sirens will be tested weekly at 12:00 noon, each Wednesday, of each month. Testing is conducted weather permitting. The sirens are not tested during potentially bad weather to avoid confusion.

Severe storms can produce damaging winds, tonadoes, large hail, lightning, and flooding.

  If there has been
a chemical spill or release:

  • Close Windows & Doors
  • Block out outside air
  • Turn off Air Conditioner
  • Turn off furnace
  • Bring pets inside
If there is need to evacuate, you will be given instructions.

Buy a NOAA Weather Radio for warnings and alerts.

DO NOT CALL 911

Unless you have an EMERGENCY. You may get information from your local radio or TV stations.
